We are going over for a few days on Thursday and planning on being within an hour or so of Calais. I have just tried to book a couple of nights at camping Stoneham in Le Touquet but they are full. We have a couple of nights booked in Montreuil sur mer. Does anyone have any suggestions of an ok site within a walk of a nice town or village or beach?

There is an Aire at Le Touquet if you are only going for a few days with nice walks. Haven't stopped there for a few years but probably as expensive as a camp site these days as remember it being pricey but if only for a few days!!??
I did wonder about an aire but we have never used one because we like to get chairs out, cook outside etc. It might work for a night or so but would still like a back up plan in case the aire was full.
We use a site near Cayeaux sur Mer, Le Bois de Pins, which is on the far side of the Baie de Somme. There's another round the corner we have also used, but is more of a holiday place with swimming pool. That one also has an Aire across the road, people sit out there.
The 2 campsites start the ACSI discount on 25th August.

Sounds perfect Franbee and thanks for the heads up about ACSI. First year we have had it and not entirely au fait with dates etc. Just having a little extra holiday before school starts back.
There is a really nice municipal at a town called Eu, just near Le Treport, about 90 mins from Calais. It is in the grounds of the chateau and you walk across the gardens to get into the town. The shower block was renewed last year and there is free wi-fi across the site. In July we paid 15 euros for our MH, 2 people and EHU, and the pitches are a really good size.
It is quite a few years since we have been there but Camping Sainte Claire in Neufchâtel-en-Bray was nice. It is right beside the Greenway where you can cycle all the way to Dieppe on a traffic free path (25 miles)
I have just looked it up online and it looks much more regimented than when we were last there with rows of hard standings, a bit like caravan club, if you like that sort of thing!
Edit - The hardstanding pitches appear to be a new motorhome aire, the rest of the site appears to be as it used to be.
