my parents both mid 70,s but fairly active are looking at staying somewhere of warmer climate possibly 6 weeks maybe spain or canaries, has anybody any experience in this or any chat sites for good info, either a static or maybe an appartment, probs from mid january TIA
Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!
A lot of the larger sites in Spain and Portugal have “bungalows” for hire. We go to Albufeira and they have chalets which look quite nice. 25 minute walk through a fitness park into town, most of which is open in January and February. 10 minutes walk to a supermarket.
I’d suggest having a look on websites like Owners Direct, Owners Abroad and similar.
Contact owners and say interested in 4/6/8 week stay over Jan / Feb and prepared to pay €500 per month (or maybe €600)
Loads of empty properties near Malaga over winter and owners will take a deal. Try it!
There is a campsite at Lagos which is owned by the Portugese military, as a R&R place for their military.
As Portugal is one of our oldest Allies, our Military personnel, police and fire service can get permission to use it by writing to the appropriate person. Applies to retirees too. Unfortunately, I have lost the contact details, so you may need to do a bit of digging to get details. The UK retirees I spoke to were pleased with it: I think you have to take your own caravan/camper
ammdkids...... Camping Albuferia much better than Turiscampo but then we are a couple, depends what you're after. Found the weather to be much better in Spain (and the sites)

Which site in Albufeira do you go to? We're thinking about Turiscampo for a week in February.
I’ve only just seen this post. We prefer Camping Albufeira and go for several weeks on CCC winter sun rallies which at very good value. Turiscampo is a nice site but there’s not an awful lot to do locally so you really need transport to get further afield.
