I'm looking at Northern Italy for next summer (peak school hols) - possibly around the Lake Garda area, but open to suggestions. Seen lots of good sites online but very few have large pitches. We need at least 10m x 12m for our selection of tents (Outwell Montana 6P + kitchen tent + 2 small pup tents for teenagers), and the ability to park a car and trailer.
Would love to hear any suggestions. Thanks in advance.

Have a look at Campeggio la Rocca just outside Bardolino. When we visited a few years ago they have some extra large pitches (at a premium). We had a 7.25m caravan awning and car on one with a bit of space for table and chairs. La Rocca - the site has had some major refurbishments in the last 12 months (get their emails).
Our experience of the Lake Garda area is that most sites we looked at had pitches between 80 and 100 square metres. The site we ended up staying on was very cramped but it seemed like the norm for the area.
We too found pitches around Lake Garda some of the smallest we have seen anywhere in nearly forty years of camping and caravanning. If anyone has an ACSI book part of the site descriptions includes smallest and largest pitch sizes. I'll have a look and see what sizes come up when I have access to our book.

Thanks for the info so far everyone.
Sadly it seems we'll either have to hire a mobile home, or wait until we have a caravan again (in a few year years once teenagers are past family holiday age).
Even the few sites that do have pitches of 100m2 appear to not allow more than 1 tent on a pitch, and charge in excess of €100 per night for 4 people, a tent, and a car.
