Hi, I wonder if you guys could make some suggestions. We've recently come back from our 2nd summer at Le Letty in Benodet Brittany, we love the site with the Aqua park and Beach on site to keep our 14 and 6 year old happy, we also love the area and enjoyed sight seeing in Quimper and Concarneau: however, after 2 years, we feel we have exhausted the area and would like to try somewhere new.
We'd like somewhere with a similar vibe - relaxed camping, without being squeezed in, but not too noisy and busy.Maybe somewhere a bit smaller. Somewhere with gentle cycle paths - we love being able to cycle to the supermarket.
I was either thinking of somewhere in the Vendee (which would be around 6 hours driving from Cherbourg - similar to Benodet) or much nearer to Cherbourg - maybe Normandy so we could see the Landing Beaches, Bayeaux or Mont St Michel.
Cherbourg is our port of choice as we live near Poole.
We have camped with friends for the past 2 years, so the kids have had company, so not sure how amused they would be with just us.

In Normandy - L'Anse du Brick just outside Cherbourg UKC link
Cherbourg has a lot to do and it is an easy drive to St Mere Eglise and Utah beach and the batteries and bunkers near there.

Granville. We were impressed with this town and really enjoyed our short stay there. No water park sites though but this is where we stayed. site

Pontorson. Great for cycling and on the border with Brittany so trips to St Malo etc. Camping Haliotis site link UKCS

Our next French trip will probably be towards Vannes and the Gulf of Morbihan.

We're just back from Camping Des Megalithes at Erdeven (Morbihan) for the fourth year running.

It's a large but quiet site situated a mile from the village along a traffic free cycle/walking path and within easy driving distance of Carnac/Vannes/Auray/Lorient/Gulf of Morbihan.

Thanks guys. I think I've sorted Normandy as a separate holiday, so looking at the Vendee. I've heard Pornic and Carnac area is very nice.
I'll look at the sites you've suggested.

Have a look at La Garangeoire. It is near Saint Jean de Monts. We have been there last 4 years. It is probably comparable size to Du Letty (we have stayed there too) the facilities are excellent. There are beautiful beaches about 15mins away. A cycle path goes all the way along the coast. The Vendee is beautiful and they have a large water park called O'Gliss which is about 30mins away. We have 14 and 10 year old and live this site.

Thanks so much. I'll add that to my list

Fee Fi - did you find that this site is quite isolated out in the country? Is there anything in cycling distance for food shopping? Thanks

Hi there. There is a reasonable shop on site for your morning bread / croissants etc. You can cycle into the nearest village which is Saint Julien des Landes, there is a Vival type shop there and a bakers and a pharmacie but we have tended to shop at the E Leclerc shopping centre at Saint Gilles Croix de Vie (there is a Lidl there too) or at Les Sables de l'onne. It is a rural site but I would never have described it as isolated but then I live in a small rural village and am used to having to drive for everything so I suppose it comes down to what you're used to.
