in this wonderful world of equality, feminism and modern thinking, its good to see the old "give the woman what she wants or else she`ll hold it against you" attitude still exists.

thats true equality at work right there......

oh, hang on...

Looking for some advice please.
We're getting hitched, end of June 2019, and my other half wants 2 weeks in miami, im thinking it could be more of an adventure to take our caravan to the continent. Shes not convinced. So, im wondering if anyone has any suggestions for a location thats a bit "special", something with a wow factor that might change her mind.
Thanks.

I've just read the OP again... I think we all need to!

Mike wasn't actually asking which option to choose ("Miami", cries the majority!), but rather to make suitable "Wow factor" suggestions for the touring caravan option, specifically to get away from any Miami related discussion!

We don't seem to be doing very well, so far!

It’s ok, I’ve been convinced it’s not a good idea, lol.
My sister lives in Miami and will of course be in the uk for our wedding, she’ll be here for a month, so said to use her house as our honeymoon base (along with an almost new Range Rover to use) , bit of a no brainier really .

I do like the suggestion of renting an RV, while there, that’s something I’ll look into.

We were going to go to France for ours but a friend pointed out that we could go there any time and to go on safari which was our other option. So glad we did...were seriously broke for a while after and it made the next few hols dull by comparison but it was well worth it. A honeymoon should be an experience you cherish forever, not just a holiday!

If the only way a marriage can be cherished is to spend a fortune on travel, then you have problems.

Point out to her that every moment with her is precious and you don't need special occasions to remember it.

This has two main virtues

(1) for her to disagree immediately classes her as not as committed to the relationship as you
(2) It saves a lot of money

We went on our honeymoon in our caravan to France and had a wonderful time. 3 weeks touring our favourite places.
There are some fabulous places to go many of which we haven't been to yet but Annecy is pretty nice so is Switzerland which has been previously mentioned, Provence, Ardeche, Alps, also we love The Dordogne and the best most luxurious campsite is Le Paradis at St Leon Sur Vezere.
Miami would also be my idea of hell but I suppose we are all different.
If she really wants it and you really don't then you need to compromise somewhere.
Wherever you end up I hope you have a lovely time.

We were really hard up when we we'd, so our honeymoon was to a borrowed caravan in the lakes. Got there in driving rain to find no gas; a perished supply pipe; the best man and chief bridesmaid had got there first and 'decorated' it, and the bedding in the boot of the Ford Anglia was wet from a leak. Gave up and went on a tour of relatives.

Memorable? I'll give you memorable!

How about prior to the wedding you take the van ( and you Fiancé) to Paris for a romantic trip and then on to Epernay for a taste of the Champagne lifestyle you will provide throughout your married life 😀

Same with us, except ours was in a borrowed tent. First night was in a romantic location at Gretna Green - where it rained so hard during the night that we were flooded out and had to spend the rest of the night in the car. The following day we packed up and drove into Glasgow where we found a staffed launderette to wash and dry our tent and bedding, and the kind lady there told us about the public baths in Glasgow. We went along and had a luxurious deep hot bath, with white towels.............! From them on we stayed in Bed and Breakfast places! This would be fifty years ago and I don't know how long those baths survived but they were a life (and marriage) saver at the time!!

Just to add to your dilemma/decision....We were in the Dordogne this year and the next door but one pitch to us were honeymooners. They had a little two man tent, a gazebo for cooking/eating under and that was it. Their first night we watched them sit down to their meal and crack open a bottle of champagne, next to the cornfields, against a beautiful sunset. I thought it was lovely and very romantic! But I guess it depends on your idea of romance! They later told us they were moving on after a week or so to La Rochelle and with the summer France has had, I’m guessing they had a fabulous time!
