We are going to take our grandchildren to France next Easter and are looking for a touring caravan site with either good facilities forbthebkids or plenty to do nearby. Ideally we are looking at the south for the weather in early April, they are flying to Carcasson to meet us, but information on good sites for kids anywhere would be useful.

Some sites in France won't be open that early, those that are will almost certainly have limited facilities, Swimming pool not open, restaurant not open, no entertainment etc. You need to look carefully at individual site web sites for what is available. Look at the big caravan club sites in the uk. Look at ACSI site and look on here. I would suggest coastal sites might be a good bet.

As has been said, there aren't many sites which are open at Easter - but you can use the Eurocampings (not Eurocamp the tour operator) to search for those which will be open but the problem is that their dates are not yet updated for 2019. However, if you could do Spring Bank Holiday instead you will have a great deal more choice. https://www.eurocampings.co.uk

Some sites which are open at Easter at Les Sablons at Portiragnes Plage, Le Brasilia at Canet Plage, and Le Beach Garden at Marseillan Plage - all would be family friendly but you'd need to check exactly what facilities would be open at that time of year.

We're planning a signficant birthday celebration with our children and six grandchildren at Spring Bank Holiday - and have earmarked L'Oasis at Le Barcares because it has a good pool for little ones, a reasonably priced restaurant on site, a good shower block and large pitches. It's also a reasonably short walk to the beach but just away from the main hustle and bustle. It's only 13 euros for a pitch, two people, car and caravan, or tent, with the ACSI card (www.campingcard.co.uk) or we can hire a mobile home for our son with three children for just 29 euros per night. We have a house in the Aude but it isn't big enough for all of us - hence the camping idea!

If you don’t want to go as far south then camping Le Paradis at St Leon sur vezere in The Dordogne is open from the end of March. They have a lovely play park, indoor swimming pool and jacuzzi, onsite restaurant and lovely pitches. Also statics and 3 chalets to hire. This is a quality campsite, one of our favourites and popular with old and young families and couples. Sadly no beach close by.

Just to follow up on ValA's suggestion, the [Advanced Search] on the Eurocampings site has a button for 'Open all Year', as well as a listing for children's activities lower down the list. A quick search on Languedoc Rousillon shows 14 sites open all year - worth reading the reviews there, and cross reference to the reviews on this Forum.

Easter can still be cool down there, with winds coming off the Pyrenees and the Massif Central; then again, you might strike lucky. In any case, might be looking for a heated indoor pool!

Sound like a lovely idea - hope you all have a nice time.
