Do I need to print the booking confirmation or can I just give them a reference number?

We always print it, but they have your vehicle reg and scan your passports so not sure if its really needed.

You probably won't need either. They have picked up who you are by your vehicle registration whilst you are in the queue.
Having said that I always print the ticket confirmation page just in case.

We have been through a number of times with just the ref number they know who you are by your car reg. We sometimes do not book our return journey until we are due back so can not get access to a printer.
