Many thanks Neil and Lena The tag via the Caravan and Motorhome club (Emovis tag) seemingly has to be located on the mottled section of windscreen ( known as Athermic screens) usually found behind the rearview mirror but in the case of our motorhome there is no such section. Do you know if tags work when afixed to a clear windscreen? Regards.
Yes the tag will work.
They just put the bit about mottled area because that's what the majority of screens have.
------------- XVI yes?
As well is two words!

Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.

We don’t even have ours attached to the windscreen. Just wave it about a bit in the general direction of the tollbooth. Had it a good 10 years now and it has never failed yet.
I believe the mottled area is free of any smart technology and allows the transmitter to communicate easier with the toll station. I have heard of people leaving them on the dash and they still work.
Thank you everyone for your very helpful replies regarding the toll tags. The reassurance that they work without the mottled screen section is good to know.
Also Val – I am amazed with your confirmation that no PIN number is required for credit or debit cards for toll purposes as I am unaware of any other card payment type which does not include the security feature being required. I am puzzled that card provider accounts allow debits to be operated in this manner. Nevertheless – c’est la vie! Regards

I can confirm that the car park pay machines at the SSE Arena Belfast do not require a PIN for credit / debit card purchases. Put the card in and a few seconds later it's back out again, parking paid.

Me too, but I can assure you that is the case!
Until we had a Tag we always used a CC. Even before the booths went mostly automatic, no signature or pin number was required. There has never been a problem with this and the knock on effect on traffic if either was needed would be huge!
