More recommendations please. Caravan Site close to tunnel but not too close. thinking of spending 2 nights at the end of the holiday, 2 adults, 2 late teens and a 7yr old. Thanks

There are others along the coast of varying quality ( I would avoid L'Olympic at Wimereux0

The children might like a site by the beach - there are several - and what a wonderful beach it is. Camping Noirda at Audresselles might suit your family.

Hi,
We stayed at Camping des noires mottes at Sangatte in October. Small site, very clean with beach across the road, 5 mins from the tunnel.
In August we prefer Bien Assise for our last night & probably better for children depending on what they enjoy! We’ve stayed there many times for short breaks as well & there’s plenty to do & see around the area,

We don’t use Calais any more but when we did, we liked La Bien Assise in Guines. Its a very nice site with good facilities.

We like Bien Assise too, but only use it in the ACSI discount period as it is quite expensive otherwise. We tried Noires Nottes but weren't impressed.
We like the Somme Estuary, if you think that might fit in with your travel times. Our favourite site so far is at Brighton-les-Pins but there's another site round the corner is more child friendly, swimming pool etc. Easy to walk to the shore.

We would recommend the camp site in Wimereux, 15 miles from Calais, only five minutes from Nausica in Boulogne.Easy access to and from the A16 and a huge shopping centre for last mimute buys.

We've only ever stayed at La Bien Assise, but that has everything you need and they're very much used to accommodating ferry travellers.

It rather depends what you want. For example, we found La Bien Assise to be very "English" - for example, there were no other nationalities there when we stayed. In contrast, St. Louis has a more "French" atmosphere, although a lot of Brits stay there. One word of warning though, depending on your outfit, you might find St. Louis a little tight. The pitches are not very big and the roadways narrower than on some sites.

for me it's a an easy choice; La Bien Assise at Guines
Last summer when pitched at bien assise, we went to have a nose around at Chateau du Gandspette at Eperlecques and were NOT impressed
