Thank you all for your views. Much appreciated. Those that go do you go tunnel and drive or ferry?
The ferry seems expensive but tunnel and fuel combined could be close, I've not done the maths yet.
Ferry’s to the hook can be a bit expensive . But there are offers either with stena or with the clubs we use the c&cc . We go over night just for ease and to be able to relax. But day crossings can be a lot cheaper.
We have crossed from Dover but don’t like the longer drive and would need an over night near Dover. We have never used the tunnel .
Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!
I always use the tunnel, but buy a frequent traveller pack - - it saves about £150 on each return trip with our MH. You can also share the account with one other person so you don`t have to do 5 trips a year. We do live about 45 minutes from Folkestone which makes it much easier to use.
As already said it is a lovely country and we well remember being very surprised at how lovely on our first ever visit back in 1995.
We have stayed in to main areas and stopped over at another.
Our first visit was for two weeks in the Zeeland area at Breskens. The area was lovely and we were always greeted with surprise as, at that time anyway, they saw few British visitors. We had a great stay and there was much to see,and its easier now with the ferry that used to cross the estuary being replaced with a road tunnel.
Our most frequent stays have been at Camping Coldenhove in the village of Eerbeek as we have friends there.
Its a very large but nice site and the area has much to see and do, especially as it is close to Arnhem were the Airborne Museum is not to be missed.
You are also not far from the massive Obelink store which is a site to behold in terms of size and variety of vans, MHs and accesories.
We have also spent one night as a stopover en rout to the Hook for a ferry, near Roermond at Resort Marina Oolderhuuske which was very pleasant.
Another vote for Zeeland, superb area for walking and cycling, dog friendly and vets in Oostberg were superb. We did Cadzand on the border and will be doing Middleburg area this year. Easy drive from the tunnel and Sites are generally excellent quality.
