Please could anyone advise if they have done the drive from Salzburg to Villach on A10 towing a caravan. Just wondered if there are long climbs and/or gradients?

Done it on the way to Croatia via Slovenia........there are a few hills but nothing unmanageable.

We have done it in a motorhome and it is a well engineered motorway and rather lovely. I would have thought that if you can get as far as Salzburg you would have no problems with the A10. There are quite a few tunnels and you do pay an additional toll but its not a lot of money. Are you going to Ossiacher See?

We use the A10 a lot have done since it was built. Last 14 years with 8 meter twin axle no problems . It is one of the most scenic Motorways in Europe.

Thanks all for all the replies. We have mainly towed and holidayed in France but we would like to experience different countries. We are heading for Ankaran with a few stops on the way, we will certainly aim to stop in pretty places on the way and a visit to Ossiacher See looks a must! We have been looking at google maps and YouTube at the drive and it looks fabulous. It is always reassuring to get the opinions from people on here, this is such a helpful forum!
