Good evening all,
Does anyone use the ferry from Portsmouth to Caen that arrives at 9:30 at night?
We are using this service in July and I’m wondering if any campsite will still be open to pitch our caravan at 10:00 at night?
Any suggestions? What does everyone do?

What we do is avoid the ferry crossings that dump us ashore late at night. Even hotels are a bit of a problem that late at night from previous experience. We much prefer the overnight crossing, arriving fresh in the morning with plenty of time to get to and pitch camp in daylight.
We're booked at Camping Des Capucines for our June trip, never been there before, but good reviews.
Carol, an alternative at that time of night is to follow the stream of other caravans going one mile down the road from the ferry and into Camping Riva Bella.
Each of the two big UK Clubs has a full description of it and can make bookings for you.
We get that ferry every year and stay overnight at Camping Riva Bella. They stay open for the late ferry. The site is fine for an overnight stop and very handy to the port, only about 5 minutes away!

Thanks to Monty15, Netherton and PixieHez for info re Camping Riva Bella. I have booked a night there for when we arrive in France. The rest I’ll deal with later.
I love this site!
We are on that time ferry in August and have booked first and last night in Camping Des Capucines. We stayed there last year on last night and it suited us. We have used Riva Bella, but find it a bit manic and noisy. It is the closest to the Port though, and the mass exodus to catch the ferry in the morning is noisy.
