hi all
Have just been on to Brittany Ferries to add a roof bag to our car from Santander to Portsmouth on Monday June 3rd and discovered ferries are now going to Plymouth until the 9th June. For any one who has not heard and are booked on one of these ferries.

Their ferry Pont Aven is returning to service tomorrow after an engine room fire - but with one engine now dead it will be running slower, so for the time being they are having to shorten the route by running into Plymouth rather than Portsmouth.

If the height of the vehicle plus the roof box is lower than the caravan there should not be any issue and no charge.

Hi Dotto, are you in Spain now?
Ask as you are clearly talking about the Spain to UK leg and, if so, that's maybe why you were not ware of the changed route.
BF have said that a new engine will be required and this is planned for early 2020 so its possible that Portsmouth may not see and Spanish sailings for quite a while.

I see the Pont Aven has had trouble with steering gear now and is off back to Brest for drydock. worked as a ship's engineer for 40 years and can confirm they are all a pain in the rear.

For anyone affected..Brittany Ferries today confirmed that the Pont Aven will not be returning to service before the 14th June.Seems that they are giving full refunds to anyone affected..full details here:
Hi we are camping in Santander at moment as we're hoping to get ferry on Monday, but just had e-mail from Brittany ferries saying Port Aven ferry cancelled until June 14th. Not taking chance on them trying to get us on another ferry as very limited space so we have cancelled getting refund & going to Calais. This is only the second time we have travelled with Brittany ferries last time was also cancelled due to a strike so never again. We are lucky we are in a tent & only a car feel sorry for people with caravans

Sounds like you have had bad luck with Brittany Ferries but I have travelled with them many times for more than 30 years and have never had a booking cancelled
