Camping Municipal du Mas at Issoire is one possibility about the halfway point - but there are others further on such as those at Massiac and St Flour - what site guides are you looking at?

I would second that recommendation, although generally we would try to get further south - as far as Millau before another overnight stop. Lots of sites in Millau itself, or if you don't want to come off the autoroute there is Les Calquieres at Severac le Chateau. But there are plenty of others in between if you've an idea how far you want to travel.

However,I agree with Val, go to Millau.

Yes, but the short distance to travel gives you a really good head start on choosing the best of the vacant pitches when you arrive at the site on the Med!

We have done Salbris to Agde lots of times and we always stay in Millau, lots of camp sites plus a wonderful city.

I wouldn't hurry to get to Cap d'Agde - it's pretty horrid.
