With two kids to put through Uni, and the Govts fabulous view that it is parents responsibility to fund it, it would appear we might be needing to tighten our belts a bit for next Summer, so this years villa in Majorca and Caribbean jaunts might be the last hurrays for a bit

Furthermore our eldest may be being scheduled for major surgery next Summer, which will mean no flying for a while, and some last minute plans.

So shall slink in through the door someone left slightly ajar, and lurk awhile.

Yaaaay! Hi Claire!
We have a tent still as are back doing Viking re-enactment, so camp quite a lot of weekends in the summer, so suspect we might look at a camping trip next summer, depending on when/if D’s surgery is scheduled.

Welcome Back. I'm still here - and we're still caravanning. In fact we're thinking of going next week. We're late this year for all sorts of reasons and really need a break. We still have our Eurotunnel Frequent Traveller which is unused this year, so far, so we can book and travel on a whim (almost).

We're thinking we may meet up with friends at Loumarin in Provence and onwards from there.......!

If you can now do the magical 'outside the school holidays' then you could do an ACSI site (lovely site, lovely area) for just 12 euros per night!

Youngest will still be at school, she’ll have done her GCSEs next summer, so we should be able to get away earlier than UK schools, but it will be in the middle of French peak season -July.

To be honest, even peak prices at the campsites we are looking at are cheaper than UK sites, or package trips.

Looking at three star, smallish sites with maybe a pool and bar, but not much else. Considering Le Clapas or similar.

We stayed on some nice 3 star sites last year - after a trip to see our family in the Dordogne. We were on our way back to storage when we heard about flooding in the ARdeche, so we headed off elsewhere, and stayed in the Cele valley (somewhere we've never been) and then on a site between Rodez and Millau. We had a lovely time, and no problem finding pitches even in mid to late July and into August!

Nice to see you back and I hope your eldest's surgery goes well.

One site i have often fancied is camping les cascades at Sautaudet. I would think a bit busy in peak season but post gcses should be good. We had a wonder a few years ago and really liked the site, the location is fab

Yes, that’s on the list too, but I think probably really busy.

Welcome back MATE. Hope you are well Exessexmum. You could always send them to Uni downunder. You would get more bang for your buck thats for sure. Hope your ankle biters operation goes well.

I feel your pain. We’ve got one back from uni and 2 currently at uni.
The motorhome has been great for visiting them and although a hefty outlay the depreciation is minimal and our main holiday in France only costs the price of the tunnel and fuel. It’s nice that the kids fly out to us for the weekend with us for just a few pounds with budget flights.
For the weekends visiting uni we stay on pub stops for free and spend what we would pay in site fees on a nice meal.
Eldest son was a bit embarrassed by the Moho rocking up the other two embrace it.
The thought of paying thousands for a holiday and having nothing to really show for it scares me to death.

It's only an expensive hobby when it's parked on your Drive....use it, love it , live it.

Hi Essexmum,

Where do you do your Viking re-enactment weekends?

Sounds like great fun.

We took a disabled friend to Camping Les Cascades in June 2015.

It's a great campsite with everything you need.
The noise of the Cicadas was quite loud at times but at the same time was very relaxing.

Every year the site has sent me a New Year email with a discount offer.
I checked it out for this year and managed to get 10 days in a mobile home for just under £200 in early September.
This time, we're taking the motorbike so we're having a couple of overnight stops each way.
