We're having a change this holiday and will be staying mainly in Belgium and Germany, between June 12th and July 10th.
As campsites are sometimes few and far between in the areas we are planning to visit, would you recommend booking in advance?
I'm reluctant to do so as it takes away any flexibility (we don't book sites in France) but I have certain sites in mind that we intend to stay at and not many alternatives!
Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!
I've never booked sites in Germany or Belgium (or anywhere else in Europe). I've never had any problem.
Let me recommend This German website. You can search by place name (ORT) or within an area on a scrollable map. It's German, but it will translate. It covers all Europe and lists campsites and motorhome sites.
------------- Two drifters off to see the world.
I'm tired of reality, so I'm off to look for a good fantasy.

If you can't get into Ypres itself, try camping Ypra in Kemmel (near Ypres). V.Good site with bar and excellent base for exploring WW1 sites on foot, bicycle or car.
