HI, probably been asked loads but I've searched and can't find it easily. We go to france. I bought a hi gear hookup which is 16amp. Now will this plug straight in or do I need an adaptor for France?

Another maybe daft question, the lead says its 16 amp and the campsite provides 10amp. Will it work, I'm thinking we can;t power many things at the same time but is it OK that the cable is 16amp and the plug only 10??

Most of the connectors in France are now the same fitting as you have, but some of the older municipal sites still use the old style two pin fittings like these so you may need to rake a converter.

The 16 amp lead will work fine on a 10 amp feed.

Great thank you. It's a modern site with pools etc so I'd imagibe I have enought but I'll buy the adaptor just in case :-)

Many campsites have upgraded to 16amp, some say 10amp as there may be a few posts that have not had the upgrade.

Some EHU’s say 16amp which is good as the cable will be 2.5mm, although it’s always worth checking the MCB as that may be 10amp, but can easily be changed for a 16amp MCB.

What will do more will do less, so it’s always nice to have 16amp capability.

If, which is unusual, the campsite EHU is two pin, you can bet they sell the converter in the camp shop! But just get one before you go to be safe.

it may be worth to get an extension lead (10m minimum) as well as sometimes the hook-ups are a fair distance from the pitch.
