Nothing at all wrong with pre-erected tents. I suspect that many of us who started in Europe in the 1970's used companies which provided tents on European campsites. We used Eurocamp, Canvas Holidays, and others, for several years before buying our own equipment.

When we had our second child we started using Eurocamp as we simply didn't have enough room in the car for all the camping gear - plus pushchair etc.
As the internet became more widespread we then started booking mobile homes direct with sites.
When the eldest stopped coming with us we went back to camping with our own gear again and continued when the youngest stopped - although we'd often continue to book mobile homes as well - especially the times we went to Italy.
Now we live in France.
