A couple of weeks ago we spent 4 nights at Le Paradis and, having experienced many sites over the years, it has to be among the best 2 or 3 I have ever used. We will probably grab a few more days there in early September. The cost using the ACSI card equated to £18 a night.
Anyway, the point of this post - - I have just read an article about what a good site Concierge Camping at Chichester is so I thought I would price up a weekend there in September. Two nights on a small MH pitch is £98! I think I will stick to Europe.

My perception is that you can get better camping for less money in France than pretty much anywhere. And camping in the UK is over priced and over rated.

Camping in UK over-priced & over rated? Depends how you do it & where you go.

Camping Le Paradis certainly is a top site and one we visit every year for a week or 2, costs 20 euros a night with acsi.
We are heading to a lovely CL site in the Peak District for 4 nights from Saturday 3rd August for £15 a night so it’s just a case of looking for the cheaper sites, they are out there.

Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!

I know there are cheaper sites out there, but I was just comparing like-for-like. There are of course much cheaper sites in France too.

Camping Le Paradis is the best site we have stayed at. I used to go as a kid with my parents and brother and looked at it a few times but thought it wouldn't live up to the memories. Anyhow, couldn't resist it any longer, went last year and immediately booked again for this year! The kids can't wait to go back and meet up with their friends again - just the same as me and my brother.
It's changed a lot since the late 80's and early 90's but for the good.
Agree that prices over here are so much more for less but maybe that is the fault of underlying expenses rather than greed?

Has anyone stayed there in the winter months Oct to April?

Looking for an open French site on this route (give or take a few km) between Caen and Bordeaux area? This one claims to be open all year but from experience you never can tell!! Or suggest any others on that side of France for our first stop. We used to go down the other side of France and know a few stops that way but have now moved closer to Portsmouth.

From their website it appears that it's only their self catering accommodation open Nov - March - camping pitches available 30 March - 20 October.

Our daughter drove by Le Paradis yesterday. She reckons there was red tape across the entrance and nobody about or in the pool area.does anyone know if there's a problem there? Flooding perhaps, after the very heavy rainfall? Here's hoping all's well.

Not seen anything in the local press - the big Dordogne story in today's Sud-Ouest is a couple being re-united with a cat they lost a couple of years ago.

Rain was heavyish at the end of last week but puddles rather than floods. Saved watering the plants for a couple of days

We stayed there in late May/early June and I agree that it's possibly the single best site we've ever stayed on.

Which is good, because by my calculations the return journey from Colchester would use almost £300 worth of diesel so you'd need to stay for a few nights to recover that cost!
