Am looking for recommendations. Can anyone suggest campsites suitable for caravans near to the beaches of the South of France / Mediterranean / Cote d'Azur. Doesn't have to be on the beach, just close enough for day trips. Really would like a peaceful, laid back campsite, no entertainment, but with pool, electric hook ups, showers and good pitches. Not too fussed if there is anything else on the site.
Have spent a few years caravanning in the most lovely chilled site in the Dordogne, but its time for a change!
Greatly appreciate any recommendations.
thank you!

Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!
A difficult question ! Low key, peaceful, laid back campsites with a pool on the Côte d'Azur are few and far between.
There are some possibilities - for example Camping Le Vaudois gets good reports on here, but we weren't tempted because it's inland from Frejus, and we didn't find Frejus lovely. We preferred Cavalaire, and liked Camping la Pinede for its position - but that site has no pool.
So are you sure you really want the Côte d'Azur itself - there are other parts of the French Med. coast where you might find campsite choices to fit with your wish list.
Can’t comment from the caravan perspective, but as a mere tenter, I’d be happy to second the nomination for camping de Vaudois.
As a campsite, it covers your entire wish list. We went in September, which may well be more peaceful than other months, but it was still well populated whilst retaining it’s reputation for peace and quiet.
The surrounding area/local resorts were good enough for us to return a second year (and only our determination to try somewhere new (to us) stopped us returning for a third consecutive year.
Wouldn’t have any qualms about going back there. Lovely site and area, in our opinion.
------------- 2024: 38 nights thus far...
2023: 47 nights
2022: 40 nights
2021: 30 nights
2020: Just 24 nights
2019: A personal best 50 nights
2018: Just the 30 nights
2017: 34 nights
2016: 32 nights
2015: 38 nights
2014: 34 nights
2013: 36 nights
From July 2012: 23 nights
Yep, another vote for Camping de Vaudois, been four times over the years, last visit being June/July this year.
No animations whatsoever at the campsite, which makes it perfect for us.
And yes, as Stuart mentions, you will need a 1m satellite dish to get all the Freesat channels, but you have to be on a pitch next to the Southern perimeter fence to get a total clear line of sight to the bird.
