We haven't been away in the caravan since getting back from France/Switzerland/Belgium at the very end of August. We had hoped for an October half-term adventure in it, but did hotel instead.
Two of my kids have exams next summer (A Levels and GCSEs) so I am not even sure if an Easter 2020 trip is on the cards (revision and all that). And we are hoping for a villa summer holiday next year. So who knows when we'll be back out in it. Seems a waste when storage costs, insurance costs, servicing costs will all still have to be paid.
And I really must go to the storage place and drain it down; its getting cold in the North East of England.
We may go in the van again just after Christmas and then have a couple of weeks in a hotel in the canaries to set us up for the start of the season proper
There is no such thing as bad weather just bad clothing
Hi we've literally just got home from 3 nights away at the Caravan and Motorhome site at Baltic Wharf in Bristol. It may be our last chance as they only have a short lease. We were very lucky to get 3 consecutive nights. the site was full for the whole time we were there. Beautiful weather - we spent Sunday at Tyntesfield (NT) only about 7 miles from the site. We went into Bristol on Monday, did some shopping and visited the Cathedral. (already visited St Mary Redcliffe).. they were tuning the organ. It was ear piercing! On the way home today we visited Lacock Abbey and strolled around the village in the sun. We try to use our MH in every month of the year. We have the ferry booked for a trip to Portugal for March-April.

One of the main reasons we have a caravan rather than a motorhome. Not only could we never afford to buy a motorhome, we could never afford to go away every month either, and that is what you really need to do to get the best out of one. At least with our caravan it costs us nothing while it is stood on our driveway. No road tax or MOT needed either. All our caravan costs us is site fees and the odd bit of maintenance, and I do most of that myself.
We’ve got Cardiff and Stratford upon Avon in December, The Forest of Dean in January and Paris over the Brexit weekend for France Vs England in the six nations. We love using the Motorhome all year round and it seems we’re not the only 4 season campers judging by the amount of moho’s and caravans on the road.
------------- It's only an expensive hobby when it's parked on your Drive....use it, love it , live it.
Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!
Got back from Turkey 2 weeks ago, last day we were in shorts and tee shirts enjoying a beer by the river, 28 degrees, 7th November.
Since then, hibernating.
Already planning our road trip to Turkey n March 2020.
Leaving the house in the UK in winter, not for me, I prefer enjoyment!

How is Turkey in a van or Camper. Are there many campsites and if so are they ok. I dont know if We are allowed to drive the Camper to,Turkey but just wondering. Cheers
Weather permitting we’re off to Derbyshire for a few days in a couple of weeks, and will hopefully have another 2 or 3 short trips before heading over to France sometime in April. We’re comfortable using the caravan all year round (Alde heating and onboard facilities are great) but we also want to introduce our new rescue dog to caravanning before the “big trips” overseas next year.

We would be comfortable inside our caravan too, but you have to come out of it some time, and it's this we don't like. We don't venture outdoors at all in winter if it can be avoided. There's always plenty to do at home in the warm in winter. Things like having a good clear out, redecorating etc, or even just reading a book. We have hundreds at home. There's a lot more room in a house to do whatever we want, and we wouldn't want to be cooped up inside a caravan when it was freezing cold outside and raining or snowing. No thank you!
Well done for having a rescue dog, they are the best kind and all we have ever had. Our current one is nearly 15, and we have had him for over 9 years so far.
------------- Best Regards,
Colin

Well said Colin D these are some of the very reasons why we changed back to a caravan

Sorry you are feeling lonely.
My delay in posting, apart from a hospital spell, was that I had run out of insults to fling at you.
I promise to try harder in future
