I think we have decided to get the 10.30 ferry from Saint Malo to Portsmouth in early June. Please can you folks suggest the nearest/recommended campsite for a tent? We will travel on a weekday.

Have a look at St Benoit des Ondes, there are two sites but the muni is only open in th peak season. The other site has hedged pitches, a pool and decent facilities, they also take ACSI.

I think it's about half an hour from the ferry.

Some really good ideas. Le P'tit Bois is wonderfully near the town. I am very tempted even though it's far smarter than we normally go for. I thought of staying a couple of nights before our return ferry and it would be fun to be able to have a wander to the shops and cafes.

Thank you Bramston, we are spoilt for choice, des Chevrets is added to my list. It does look lovely, if the weather is calm. I have been on some of these coastal sites in exciting weather!

If you look up Latitude Adventures channel on YouTube, they stayed at Domaine de la Ville Huchet en route to St Malo a couple of years ago, the title of the video is Camping in France - Part 5

Hi,
We stay at Yellah p'tite bois, just on the outskirts of St malo. You can book to arrive late in the evening and they get you onsite very quickly. It's nice and clean and the food outlets in the evening are good. They arrange a pitch near the exit if you need to leave early to catch the ferry. Takes about 20 minutes to get into the ferry terminal.

We used to stay at the municiple that looked over the ferry harbour but we found the toilets dirty and some unsavoury characters in the toilets who liked to show off their manly bits, so we changed campsite.
