Been looking at El Delfin and Las Dunas, any one have any comments about these 2 sites, I have looked at the reviews and there pretty sparse compared to the French campsite reviews.

Family with 2 kids ( 10 and 6) in the late May early June.

Outside these 2 large resorts, any recommendations, are there any sites situated within a cove rather than a large open bay for a beach.

We stayed at El Delfin Verde about 20 years ago. At that time it was a site with a big pool, tennis courts and so on and beach access. It just so happened that the year we went (I think it was June) the weather was foul, so we did a lot of sightseeing up and down the coast. The Dali Museum at Figueres was a great hit with our teenagers (around 14/15 years old at the time). I seem to remember that the site was a bit isolated, but that wasn't a problem due to the facilities there and a car to get about.

The Bay of Roses really is large bays, until you get down to Begur, so if you want a campsite on a cove you have to start your search further south. There are some campsites around L'Escala (which has some coves) but we haven't stayed in any of them.

Years ago we loved Camping International Calonge, at Playa d'Aro, which is opposite the most lovely cove with sandy beach, some large rocks, a cliff footpath (the cliffs are not that high), and further coves in each direction. There is a footbridge across the busy road, and pitches aren't that large but the beach made it worthwhile!

We used to go to el delfin verde, and loved it. It is a big site, but it doesn’t feel overcrowded. It is on the beach with a security man on the gate, so quite secure. The supermrket on site is excellent and doesn’t charge inflated prices. The restaurant and takeaway food are good, without being too expensive. It is down a long and winding road, but it is worth a visit.

Kim’s camping in Llefranc is worth a look. Lovely little bay and plenty to do for the kids in the campsite. We’ve stayed in Llefranc many times and we think it is one of the most delightful places on the Costa Brava.
