I spoke to ADAC in Germany this week and after initially being told my renewal due 31st May would only be for Club membership, she checked my membership card number and my recent letter from ADAC about renewal. The letter stated quite clearly that if renewed for 99 euro my Plus membership would continue until 31st May 2021 when it would cease to be plus. I would also have to give them 3 months notice before then to avoid being chased for Club membership payment of 55 euros. I paid by credit card over the phone and so am now certain that I am a Plus member till 31st May 20201.

This seems to be at odds with everyone else's experience. Certainly ours was definitely only CLUB membership - and this has been confirmed in writing by ADAC.

When I translated my letter, it too says I have plus membership till May 21. So worth keeping in case we can go somewhere before then.
Our original renewal letter suggested we would continue our PLUS membership, which is why we paid our renewal. The email confirming receipt of the payment on 01/04/2020 also said we should keep our PLUS Card. But then we got another letter which included a new 'CLUB' card and told us that PLUS was no longer available to us. I would be very very wary if you haven't yet renewed, as everyone else who has renewed after 01/04/2020 has had their PLUS membership cancelled.
This is the letter someone who was due to renew on 01/07/2020 has received:
Dear Mr. Riley,
As you know as an interested ADAC member, the ADAC focuses its mobility services in particular on its more than 21 million members based in Germany in order to provide them with the best offers and services worldwide. In view of the fact that the complexity of the legal requirements that have to be met in connection with the provision of services, especially for Plus members residing abroad, we have decided that Plus services in the context of ADAC membership will only be for members in the future with residence in Germany. Therefore, we will change your ADAC Plus membership (and possibly existing partnerships of partners / children) to a membership without plus benefits from 01.07.20 . Nevertheless, you remain protected within the scope of your classic ADAC membership, for which you naturally pay a correspondingly cheaper membership fee. The services associated with classic ADAC membership, such as breakdown assistance in Germany, legal advice, ADAC Tourset or the ADAC benefit program, will remain in effect for you. balite your main place of residence in Germany and not correspond to the address given above, please let us know the address of your main residence in Germany. Kind regards

This is the translation of the letter I received.
As you, an interested member of ADAC know, ADAC concentrates its mobility services in particular on it more than 21 million members in Germany in order to bring them optimal offers and services worldwide. Against the background of increasing complexity in legal specifications, in particular which affect the service delivery for Plus members resident abroad, we have decided to only offer Plus services related to ADAC membership exclusively for members resident in Germany in the future.
Therefore, as of 1st April 2021, we are changing your ADAC Plus membership (and potential other existing memberships with partners and subsidiaries.
You will remain protected as part of your classic ADAC membership for which you will obviously pay a lower membership fee. The services connected to the classic ADAC membership, such as roadside assistance, legal advice, ADAC Tourset (?) and the ADAC advantage program will still be available to you.
If your main residence is actually in Germany and not at the above address, please let us know the address of your main residence in Germany

Having initially decided to give up on ADAC and go with Nationwide Flex plus, I changed my mind after my conversation with ADAC. I believe that if you have received a letter asking for 99 euros to renew your Plus membership till a date in 2021 then you should go for it. Just my opinion.

I wonder where the UKCS 'man on the inside' (AKA DiPhil) is. I hope everything is alright as it's nearly a year since they posted.

I am a female actually and haven’t posted on here as we sold and gave up our Caravanning in 2018 due to old age.
We kept our ADAC Plus going and have cover for next year.
Below is the notice I received from Amanda Moser-Wickles.
This is notice I got today from ADAC this morning, which I have translated below As you are an interested member of ADAC, the ADAC focuses its mobility services, in particular on its more than 21 million members based in Germany, in order to provide them with the best offers and services worldwide, against the background that the complexity of legal requirements is constantly increasing it has to be fulfilled in connection with residence abroad, we have decided to offer services in the rhythm of ADAC membership exclusively for members residing in Germany
Therefore we will change your ADAC plus membership (and possibly existing memberships of partners / children) from 01.02.21 to membership without plus benefits.
Nevertheless, you will continue to be protected under your classic ADAC membership, for which you will of course pay a correspondingly cheaper membership fee. The services associated with classic ADAC membership, such as breakdown assistance in Germany, legal advice, ADAC Tourset or the ADAC benefit program, remain the same for them
If your main residence is in Germany and does not correspond to the address given above, please let us know the address of your main residence in Germany,
Sincerely
This is nothing to do with Brexit it affects all Members outside of Germany Worldwide.
It is very sad but covering all these folks in the world must have been a drain n their resources. I don’t believe any other Breakdown Organisation in this country is open to other countries membership.
I hope you all enjoy your travels once this Virus is over.

Thank you outer I do miss the caravan I can tell you. But I have kept my website going with updates and new items going on in Europe. I have added our river cruises through Germany and Austria but sadly there won’t be one this year.

Just phoned this number:- 00 49 22 14 72 74 44 to renew membership of ADAC
and told in no uncertain teams that they have changed their policy and its now for Germans only, or people that reside in Germany. So that's us Brits not welcome in the Deutschland any more it seems. They did send me a renewal form asking for 41 Euros but after being told in a nasty manner to bugger off then that's what I will do. Will have to join the AA instead. The arrogant prat is not going to stop me visiting Germany for sure.

Wow, what a tirade !
There are restrictions all over Europe at the moment because of Coronavirus, but once that is over then of course you can visit Germany. There will be nothing else to stop you. And you can take out travel insurance with a wide range of UK companies before you go.
