Sadly, due to the damn CV19 we have decided to postpone our Ardeche holiday until August next year. Absolutely gutted! It's no substitute, but we have booked a week in Cornwall in August.....if it goes ahead🤞

Yep, instead of France for this year, we have a week booked in Cornwall instead, for this July although it looks now as though that will not probably happen, booked the holiday back in August last year.

The campsite website says that they are currently closed due to COVID-19 which is as to be expected.

I have had no direct communication from the campsite as yet, so will give them a call in June, as the T&C’s say that the full amount is to be paid a month before we arrive, the campsite already has my deposit, but if they don’t plan to be open for July, I will be wanting that back, although looking at the campsite booking T&C’s that looks doubtful, the deposit was just over £100 so the CC firm that I booked it with might be able to help with retrieving that.

I am sure that whatever the T&C`s say, if they have cancelled your holiday, and by being closed they will have done, then you will be entitled to a refund of your deposit.

We were planning to go to France for a month. We didn’t have everything booked thankfully. We had booked the ferry and the final two nights of our holiday through the caravan and motorhome club, and we got a full refund on that through them. We had also booked a week at another site in France and they have offered us a credit note which we will use next year. I don’t have a problem with that because we usually spend about a week at that particular site every year as it’s one of our favourites and on the route back to the ferry.

We are really disappointed as I look forward so much to going to France every year. We have booked a couple of weeks in the UK, however I’m not holding out much hope that that will go ahead either!

Yep badger54, you would think so as the campsite can get a government handout as a business, but apparently what’s happening is that loads of folk who are in the same situation as me, but not the same campsite are not getting there deposits back, and are being fobbed off with a credit for the same value towards a booking for next year, if the campsite that I am booked with tries that, they can go and co co.

We were supposed to be in Spain right now, got a full refund from C&CC, very disappointed like everyone else.

Still hoping to get away to France in September, but who knows.

Planning our alternative in the the likley scenario that our July / August to France and Spain trip can't go ahead (or we don't want to go ahead withi). As we live in Cornwall, we'd head the other direction towards Scotland, will be scouring the forum for info on the Nc500! Judgement day is the head of the month the over 75% of our ferry balance is due

Email from Huttopia this morning:

Press alert: foreign tourists will be welcome in French campsites in July and August 2020

The Fédération Nationale de l'Hôtellerie de Plein Air (FNHPA) would like to remind foreign press correspondents in France that foreign tourists will be welcome in France during the summer of 2020, subject to the opening of French borders as well as those of other European countries and to favourable health conditions. Contrary to misinterpretations that have already appeared in some European countries, the Interministerial Committee on Tourism convened by Prime Minister Edouard Philippe on 14 May 2020 was very clear on this point. Likely reopening of intra-European borders at the end of June   The French Minister of the Interior, Christophe Castaner, announced on 7 May that restrictions on France's borders with countries in the European area (European Union, Schengen area, United Kingdom) will be "extended until at least 15 June". In addition, the fourteen measures "for any French or foreign person entering France," permitted by the bill extending the state of health emergency, "at this stage, given the evolution of the epidemic in Europe and in view of the alignment of health measures between European countries," will not be applied within the European area, "except overseas and, if we decide to do so, in Corsica.”

Foreign tourists welcome in France if health conditions allow it The press kit of the Interministerial Committee for Tourism of 14 May but states (extract from page 10): "France welcomes the proposals made by the European Commission in its communications of 13 May on tourism and transport, to restore mobility and allow a gradual reopening of tourist destinations in Europe. France will play its full role in facilitating the harmonization of health measures for the reception of tourists and professionals, particularly in the hotel, café and restaurant sector and transport, as well as close cooperation in the evaluation of epidemiological situations. These measures, proposed by the committee, will play a key role in reopening certain regions of Europe to tourism as soon as the health situation permits. France will ensure that the health protocols validated today feed into this necessary European harmonisation effort. France reiterates its commitment to ensuring that no discrimination on the basis of nationality can take place when European tourist destinations are reopened."

Under these conditions, French campsites are looking forward to welcoming their European clients, sanitary conditions permitting.

As already mentioned in other threads, I would go to France towards the end of the year if I feel sufficiently safe to do so, and not against government's advice.
