The campsite we have our static on, opened on the 2nd June (Vendee) and is open to anyone who can get there, though obviously its just the French at the moment until the border restrictions are lifted.

when that will be is very much in the hands of the French govt. If Spain has yet to lift its travel restrictions in terms of distance and is looking at mid July, the French have already lifted their restrictions, so hopefully they will open for business a bit sooner, i am still hopeful for the 15th June ..... the French Prime Minister is expected to make an announcement later this week, until then its only snippets of reports and rumours and of comments made by EU politicians as opposed to the Countries themselves, and its the countries themselves that have the final say !

I believe they are using 1m social distance in France, other countries 1.5m. USA 6 ft where they choose to obey it.
Confusion or what?
Obviously didn't paply for demonstrations in London and other places!

With regard to the maths, 2m distance means that each person is in their own 2m x 2m square, 1m from each person to the edge of their square giving 2m between people. Each person needs 4 square metres.

So a 4000m2 pool can in theory accommodate 1000 people each in their own 4 square metres.

If you halve the safe distance to 1m then each person needs 1 square metre so thats 4000 people.

I can remember when this was all fields.

Well, I don't know of any campsites with a 4000sq metre pool ... olympic size is 1250 ... so that's 312 people ... and ... each remaining static or moving in the best synchronised swimming dispaly ever seen on the planet!   And, remaining in an upright position, which makes swimming rather tricky.

It is overall area, including terrace etc.To me that means everything within the fence.
Like I said, what happens if everybody within the 2500 sq/m area wants to go in the 250 sq/m pool at the same time.

I would have thought that the chlorine and other chemicals in a pool would kill off any virus?

I have been to this campsite 2 years running and the pool area is huge. They also include the adult only zen pool in that figure. In the main water park theres an indoor pool, 13 slides and a Huge pool that meanders around rock formations and bridges etc. I would be surprised if during the busiest time there were 1000 people in the pool area. I dont normally swim that close to strangers. Hopefully many will stay home to make space for people who Really want to go.

I believe the chlorine does kill off the viruses.

We've cancelled. We decided there was too much hearsay and there have been a few false dawns already. Don't trust this government to devise anything competently, let alone roll it out properly. Plan is to book the same holiday next year, dates dependent. Frustratingly, I have a weekend booked on 3rd July in the UK, taking advantage of an inset day for my daughter, but the CMC sites don't open until the 4th But as we're in Wales, it might have been moot anyway. Few UK trips and rallies booked this year, but might go to the Netherlands next Easter as well as we've already paid for next year's holiday.
