Hi
We should have sailed on 15th May and it was cancelled. I was originally told I could only have a credit note, but persisted in saying I wanted an actual refund. In the end I have received confirmation that BF have agreed to refund my money, however it will take around 28 days for it to be actioned (which is perfectly reasonable).
I foolishly thought my contract was with the CMHC but it’s with BF, so it was down to them.
I have waited 28 days got some money back but still waiting for £100 which i have been told needs to come from P&O ferries and it could be up to an other 28 days. i also thought my contract was with the CMHC.
have reported them to the CMA and now doing a charge back with the bank.
I've used charge back now for two ferry trips and the company was messing about.
Should I go abroad in future it will be by euro tunnel where I can stay in my vehicle nicely isolated and I for one will not be booking in advance with anyone after the hassle of getting money returned, though I have just had an email from euro tunnel to tell me any advance bookings made at the moment come with a guaranteed refund or rebook which ever you would prefer
I know what you mean it has taken me over 2 months to get a refund for a cruise and car parking for the cruise. both wanted to give us vouchers which we do not know if we can use in the time limit.
I have posted this before.
We decided to cancel our planned trip which was to sail on 4th Aug. It was booked with Stena Line through the CAMC. I contacted them by 'Live Chat' on their website on the 12th of May long before the balance due date. Everything was so easy, after they contacted Stena the crossing was cancelled immediately and all money was returned to my credit card by the 28th May.
Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!

Surely, your contract is with whoever you made the booking with and took your money.
I depends whether or not the club is selling a complete package,if not, then the contract is with the service providers for each separate part.
Some travel agents act as travel agent and tour operator and sell complete package holidays,if so the contract is with them ,others sell packages put together by other companies and they are just agents as may be the case with C&MC.

Bad luck Harry in only getting a cash refund. Stena took a hard line in only doing that and giving no discount for next time. Brittany Ferries were much more generous by giving credit notes with 20 % discount for future bookings.
All I managed to get was a credit note.
I was told that as the ferry company was still operating They would not issue a cash refund, this despite the UK government not allowing any travel within this country let alone abroad.
I will not renew my membership next time . I have been a member for over 15 years.
Yep Steve, I lost my deposit for a July holiday at the start of this month, the firm in question had not even bothered there arse to update me on the COVID-19 situation as regards there operation, yet they have had my deposit since August last year.
I think this will be the next PPI type scandal, once we are out of COVID-19, and shame on those firms not offering full refund in cash of deposits paid, all those business are getting hand outs from the government in any case, so there is no excuse for not paying out, apart from the fact that they have the law (at the moment) on there side, and can hide behind there pathetic contracts quoting “force majeure” bar stewards the lot of them.

I cancelled a ferry for September the other day as we were supposed to be doing run Disney but it got cancelled. I was willing to lose my £75 deposit as I knew the ferry’s would still be running and it was my choice, after being on hold for 5 mins or so the lovey lady I was talking to said they had cancelled my ferry and would also be refunding my deposit. I’ve had to do this twice this year as we should have gone away in June as well.
I have no complaints with the travel service provided by the caravan club, every time I have spoken to someone they have have been helpful especially considering that they are having to work from home in the current circumstances.
I booked Eurotunnel outwards for August with Tesco. Eurotunnel are sending me a credit note that has to be used within a year of receipt (by email) and then travel can be booked for up to year hence, so in effect I could keep the voucher until June 2021 and then book a trip anytime up to June 2022. I thought this was excellent. It took about 20 minutes to get through and the bloke I dealt with was superb.
I then rang DFDS because our return is Dieppe to Newhaven. They aren't quite as on the ball as Eurotunnel. I was told to wait until July when I could amend my trip to next year or for credit note/refunds, I will have to wait until the end of July and will it all depend on govt. policies on travel bans etc. I'll wait to see how far I get with them. For now though, a big shout out to Eurotunnel.
