Can anyone say if in general the toilet blocks on French Sites will be open during the current situation, or is it like the U.K. with self contained only on site?

We are prepared for either, but by preference use communal facilities.

If you look on campsite search on here, some sites state that their facilities are open, others ask you to check with them.

Thanks Franbee. I’ll check. Perhaps ACSI advise too. I will have a look.

The link gives the European situation and the French restrictions are there too. It says most facilities are open.

Just the thought of having to adhere to social distancing rules whilst on a campsite, would be enough to put me of going, in fact it has as I was booked on a campsite for the end of next week.

How long this madness can go on for no one knows, but it will have to come to an end sooner or later that’s for sure, even Cabanon are making screens out of the clear plastic they use for tent windows, these screens are intended to be placed on tables in bars and cafes etc.

Bars and cafes in France are open there are tables for 2,4, or 6 set a metre apart, what you don't get are the usual handshakes and Kisses, apart from the sanitary facilities I do not think you would notice much difference on a campsite, I didn't.

I also do not think it is madness, Francve went into a strict lockdown on the 15th March, and when you look at Frances figures which are announced daily they are a lot better the some countries I could name.

I would change that to when you go Oxter, Things here in France are a lot better than they were.

I must admit though I am still dubious about going to the UK for a while. I feel safe here.

I happen to agree with you...In fact I think the majority now are accepting that daily life is a risk and we need to get on with it instead of panicking. The majority with that view are young people, who are the ones that will re build the UK economy. I`m far too old to help there though.

It’s still an “if” mgb.

We’d need to see outbreaks and infections consistently down. Also we travel from north east Scotland solo and hook up our van in French storage, hence hotel accommodation on the journey to near Angers.

The risk has not gone away for us and could spike at any time, so we won’t decide until late August to early September. We can sacrifice France for one year. Our tunnel payment is safe until 21/22.

I agree that France may be safer than here, but we could get home quickly from anywhere in our own country - we have an old caravan here for local trips.
