Hello again. I have not driven in France since 2015
I have been told there have been changes to the requirements you have to meet now. Can anyone help with this someone who has been recently.
Thanks

There are restrictions on driving into the centres of major cities unless you have the correct eco windscreen stickers. Search CritAir if you are planning to go there.
Not planning on going to any of the big cities mostly around the loire valley and the champagne region. If required can I buy these stickers locally.??

You can’t buy the Crit air stickers locally, very easy to get online, cost is €4 and they last for the life of the car registered.
If you you set of before the sticker arrives that is not really a problem, as you can print of the paperwork and stick that in the window of the car when parked.

We got our CRIT Air sticker a couple of years ago as although we don't travel into cities with our van we saw a report that whole areas could be included by the mayor/prefecture, or whoever's in charge, if the air quality in a particular area dropped. As we criss crossed France and went where the fancy took us we decided to have one as we often wouldn't know if we would be in one of these areas.
Having said that we really didn't see any French registered vehicles with one until we stopped at Wimereux on the way home.

For Loire Valley and Champagne region you won't need one.
Surely, as the whole department of Maine et Loire is covered by a ZPA , could not restrictions be introduced at any time if weather conditions are appropriate?
Another major change in recent years is the introduction of 80kph (50mph) on many single lane roads. It can make travel on the RN (D roads) a bit steady and don't be tempted to disregard it because there are more and more cameras and the gendarmes think it's a good way to make money !
Most are well sign posted, but some less so.
