Which would make France even safer than England, with a population density of app 47 people per sq mile in France compared to 1010 per sq mile in England.

Some on this forum have been less than supportive towards those who are retired who incidently are at high risk from this virus. However the fact remains that the R rate has risen in France over this past week. This virus is spread by infected people moving around, generally with mild or no symptoms. They then pass it on to those who are more vulnerable. But, to some, it is perfectly acceptable for a 1000 mile road trip to and from campsites, regardless. Sadly there is an attitude in the uk today of "me first" and nothing for the common good of others.

On a 1000 mile road trip to and from a campsite would probably involve less physical contact with others than a short trip to Tesco!
I am considered to be at high risk at over 80/diabetic and blood pressure but I feel there is less risk for me going to France than going on holiday anywhere in the UK,it is a risk I am prepared to take and I don't think it is necessary for others to speak on my behalf.
The alternative is stay at home and spend the rest of my limited time on earth waiting for the pandemic to disappear, which is not likely in the foreseeable future.
The common good of others appears to be a concept sadly lacking in the younger generation judging by their behaviour over recent warm spell,it is those who are congregating and spreading the virus not people on a 1000 mile road trip in comparative isolation!

Well sister inlaw in Valencia is livid with the younger SPanish generation it seems mainy of the rapid spikes can be traced to beach parties and drink parties the youngster started having when their lock down was eased this selfishness could destroy the Spanish economy completely how many people will suffer and even die because of them.

As for people on here wanting their holidays fine with me but follow the rules when you get back to protect others.

Having been away here 4 times now I have learnt we are no better people have no idea of social distancing or the procedures they are supposed to follow.

We are now using our camping experience to keep away from major tourist areas especially at W/E and if we go somewhere and it's too busy we move on and when we do go home we stay isolated.

Maybe having now lost 3 friends to this virus two hospital workers and being extremely high risk not to survive if I catch it makes me more cautious than some

We are currently on our third Caravan break this month, all three sites have been full.
We have rarely been within 2m of anyone, except the server in a pub.( there were only 2 others in the pub)

We are near Scarborough, but doubt whether we will venture there.
During the daytime most families leave the site, so they must be going somewhere.
We have Tunnel booked for Sept 10th, with no real plans.
We don’t do beaches, clubs etc, but will have a beer or two at an outside place.
Sept/ Oct French sites are generally very quiet and resorts generally only busy at weekends.
A weekly visit to Tesco has been the only thing that has caused me concern during the pandemic, can’t see French supermarkets being any worse
Up to now we are relaxed about our trip to France.

According to the French gov they attribute the spikes to the younger generation ignoring the rules,unfortunately that has led to an increase in the infection rate of the elderly through family contact.
