Heard this on Radio this morning and this if from their website.
The immediate consequence of this situation is a change to schedules, beginning at the end of August. Changes to the following ships and routes are now confirmed:
Armorique will be rested from 31 August. She currently serves the Plymouth to Roscoff route
Pont-Aven will replace Armorique on Plymouth-Roscoff route from 10 September with three return trips per week
Pont-Aven will also continue to operate one return sailing to Santander (from Plymouth) and one return sailing from Roscoff to Cork during the week
Bretagne will be rested from 7 September 2020. She currently serves the Portsmouth to St Malo route
Economie services to Spain will be withdrawn and customers upgraded to our classic service on Cap Finistère or Pont-Aven
We’ve now begun the process of contacting everyone who will be impacted by this exceptionally difficult decision. This process will take time but if you are affected, you will be contacted by email.

Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!
We were booked to go on the Bretagne travelling Portsmouth - St Malo on 27th August. After numerous attempts to contact them, I eventually managed to change the travel to April next year. I managed this a couple of weeks ago just before the restrictions were announced for travellers returning from France. I haven't been charged any extra, although I imagine the tickets would have been cheaper if booked for April 21 originally. After hearing about some of the grief people are having getting refunds for package holidays and cruises, I've got to say that Brittany Ferries have been quite good.

The worst company to get a refund from is Brittany Ferries myself and many others struggled to get refunds when they abandoned us in Spain in March this year. They would not answer phones no replies to email in the end we had to do a chargeback along with many others. I am a member of a refund group and some are still waiting for refunds.
Cruise company that we booked with said 90 for refund it arrived in 80 days a long time I know but at least we knew we would be getting our money all brittany ferries said a credit is all you can have , no we want our money back.

It is a French company and they followed permitted French procedures in offering credit notes rather than cash refunds.
Not quite true. They are actually contracted by their contract with you the customer in the UK and therefore it is under UK law that refunds are governed. Although French owned they are registered as a UK company for the purpose of transacting business. How they got away with no proper refunds for so long was that the authorities didnt know what to do and were frightened of pushing travel companies over the edge.
