Is anyone currently staying on Ile de Re? We’re thinking about going next week and just wondering how busy the towns and sites are. We’re currently staying just south of Biscarosse and the site is only about a quarter full. We’re looking for a site which is walkable/cyclable into a town. We’ve got an ACSI card and have been looking at their reviews plus ones on here but some are quite old. We’re retired now so do not need an “all singing all dancing site” but maybe by September even the larger sites are quiet.

Not in France this year, wish we were, did you know that La Tour is going through there on Stage 10 this year, on the 8th. Probably worth checking out the website for the route etc.

Only been to this place the once. Tres expensive, even on the ACSI card.

We're at Camping Interlude at Bois Plage en Re. Touring pitches filling up rapidly due to the stage of the Tour finishing two or 3 miles away next Tuesday as mentioned above. Lots of road closures / diversions Monday & Tuesday including the bridge to the mainland for some of the time (the Tour crosses it Tuesday pm). Should quiten down from Wednesday.

Note the tide will be out most of the day next week so if you like the sea you'll be walking quite a way to it - and normally much breezier / cooler that far out. We come most years and pick a week when tide is coming in during afternoon.

All villages have campsites within walking / cycling distance and numerous cycle paths on the island. Villages are fairly busy, especially those with markets - not as packed as usual but still busy. Masks pretty much compulsory in all villages and larely being adhered to.

If you do come and use one of the supermarkets at St Martin (island capital) use Intermarche as it isn't as busy and aisles much better laid out than nearby LeClerc so much easier to maintain distance.

Ile de Re tourist board has a very informative website.

Thanks for the replies particularly about the Tour. We’d not been checking the route at all even though we follow it every year at home! Phoned and got booked into a site near La Flotte. Travelling up from Biscarosse area today so will hopefully avoid any road closures etc. Got ACSI rate plus 7 nights for 6 so €105 for the week. Very happy with that 😀. Thanks again for well timed advice.
