Not at all, our first journey into Europe with our Caravan took us all the way down to Naples and we loved it (not the crazy Italian drivers though) but when in Rome as they say.

Sorry for the delay in replying - been away !

Thanks for all the encouragement, I think we're going to go for it next year, but are a bit perturbed by our initial enquiries that suggest we would pay as much again to take the trailer on eurotunnel as the car (does that make sense?!)

Anybody been eurotunnel, is it really expensive?

Hi Tom, we got back this evening from two weeks away.  We stayed in Troyes at the Municipal site both going down and coming back - word of warning - very busy and also mozzies - by the million!!  Easy to find and ok sort of site for a stop over but we got bitten to death on the way down.

I guess you are staying at L'escale?  we stayed for 11 nights, one of them in a room in a chalet due to an horrendous thunderstorm just as we arrived.  It is very busy as Thomsons have leased the rally field for mobile homes so the rallies are now on the main site.  People staying there again this year say it is crowded compared to previous years.  disappointed with the pool as it is very shallow and most of the outdoor bit is not suitable for swimming as a result but it is great to cool off in on a hot day.  We had thunderstorms nearly every evening, sometimes all through the night and they were real humdingers, echoing around the mountains a treat!!

Fantastic mountain passes all around, Col de Aravis, Col des Annes and Col de Colombiere all fab drives going very high on flower strewn bell jangling cow inhabited mountain roads, excellent.

Have a great time.

Ali

We've been looking at Eurotunnel and have found

http://www.aferry.to/   or

http://www.ferrycheap.com/index.asp

are less expensive than booking direct with eurotunnel

Martin
