Hello has anybody else had trouble getting their money back from Brittany Ferries for a cancelled crossing and been given vouchers. They are forcing us into going again to use our vouchers and this year was going to be our last. Dont know what to do.

Have you phoned their customer services team to explain the situation that you are unable to go again? What did they say?

If your booked crossing was cancelled by BF then you are entitled to a refund. BF along with other travel operators are desperate for customers to accept vouchers instead of refunds but nonetheless you are entitled to a refund.

All you can do is contact BF & insist on a refund. Be polite but firm & insistent. In the end though you will get the refund because the law is on your side.

Quote BF "If you are prevented from travelling (not merely disinclined) you may transfer your booking to another person. You must give notice in writing and enclose a £50.00 administration fee per booking."

Note the comment in brackets.

Thanks for that I will certainly look into that option. They dont want to make it easy for anyone and will get a bad rep for making it difficult. I think they have a cheek charging £50 admin when they have had our money nearly a year.
Thanks once again only the truth

I was in a similar position,If I had refused the voucher I could have had a cash refund but as I had accepted the voucher they were not happy to issue a cash refund.
In your case as was suggested previously it might be worth contacting them and see if they will rethink.

If you accept vouchers instead of refund then I think legally you are no longer entitled to a refund as you have accepted revised t&c’s. However if the vouchers were simply issued in a misleading way without customer being informed they were entitled to a refund then I would have thought customer is still entitled to a refund for the original booking cancelled by BF.

The op should not be out of pocket here through no fault of their own. They need to keep contacting BF by phone /letter/email & insist on a refund.

I am not sure of the facts of the situation so it's hard to give advice.

Were the tickets bought through one of the Clubs or direct from the ferry company? Was the ferry booking part of a package with accommodation?   Was the ferry in question cancelled by the operator?    Was the customer ill and unable to travel?    Or did the customer simply choose not to travel even though the ferry was running?

They all make a difference to the outcome.

There is only one way to get your money back from BF that's a claim on your CR Card or Charge Back ours took from March till end of May to get our money. They have no customer service's and they don't care.

We joined a Facebook page which at one time had over a 1,000 all trying to get money back I don't think anyone got a refund from BF itself.

It does not make you want to travel with them again, also added to the fact they just abandoned everyone and did not even tell people they ferries were cancelled.

If your ferry is cancelled under EU law the company must offer a refund, BF amended their terms and conditions in May to comply with the law but it only applies to crossings that they cancel.
If the ferry is still running ,as per your ticket, even if the UK gov advises against travel they will offer a credit voucher but no refund.
