When we were in Normandy last year I was talking to a couple who had travelled from Ireland with an Eriba. Their ferry from Ireland to Western France had cost them more than my entire 3 weeks in France had cost me, including my Eurotunnel journey.
Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!

We travel from Ireland and it costs us 740 pounds ONE WAY for a car, caravan and 3 kids! Its shocking.
If I remember correctly, the couple I spoke to had paid over £1300 return.

Being just 35 miles from the port and fares being reasonable one tends to overlook what some people have to pay out for their holidays.
The example I remember was talking to a hotel manager on the Isles of Scilly who was explaining the nightmare of arranging a holiday, anywhere of the islands, and the costs he faced just, for example, to get to his package holiday departure point, Bristol.
This involved 4 return air fares, car hire to get from Penzance to Bristol and an overnight hotel adding over a £1000 to his costs.
We live in Ireland ... last return crossing to France was £550 (using some Tesco vouchers) ... couple ... not towing, as we store the caravan in France ...
The price differential rather proves the efficacy of French storage (190 E per annum)
