Hi folks.
Never been to Brittany before, always gone further south.
If things change to Green by mid August we will be going to France and fancy 6 nights in Brittany after coming off the ferry at Caen.
We like cycling, historical towns and villages to explore by bike. Nice coastline and crepes.
Can anyone recommend which area to go to?
Not too far west as we are going south to The Dordogne via Parthenay following this short trip. Cheers. J x

I know you said not too far west, but Batz-sur-Mer on the coast the other side of Nantes, is beautiful. With cracking cycling/walking to be done. And not too bad to go on to Parthenay - which is not somewhere i'd rush back to personally. But Batz, and nearby Le Croisic, are well worth a small detour on the way to the Dordoigne, for me.
Hi, On the assumption that this is all in the one trip then I would be looking at the area around St Malo.
It’s a lovely old town, there are some good sites and Mont St Michel is close by. We have stayed at Domaine Du Logis near Combourg which is a lovely site.
We’ve enjoyed staying at Camping Le Vallon aux Merlettes at Matignon (near NE coast) and La Ferme de Lann Hoedic at Sarzeau, near Vannes (SE coast, beach half a mile down a track). We have also stayed many times (out of season) at Camping Haliotis at Pontorson (just on the border between Normandy and Brittany), perfectly situated for Le Mont St. Michel (9k along the cycle path behind the site). The coast near Matignon is much craggier and wilder than the one near Sarzeau, but both attractive in their own way. Oh, and we’ve had excellent crepes in all 3 places, and there are excellent boulangeries in all 3 places too!

Mick S. We aren’t staying in Parthenay, just have friends who live near and put us up for a couple of days.
We went to La Baule many years ago and visited the places you suggested which were lovely.
I think Dinan sounds nice , I’ve google imaged it so maybe there fingers crossed.
Thanks for your replies. J x

We like the area around Carnac as the weather down in south Brittany always seems a bit warmer but it might be a bit further than you are looking for. There is a nice site called Camping de la Baie in La Trinite sur Mer which is just round the coast from Carnac with excellent cycling in the area and all the really interesting prehistoric megaliths.
Another recommendation for The Gulf of Morbihan. We usually stay at Camping Des Megalithes near Erdeven but there are loads of sites to choose from in the area.
We love Le Bois Coudrais just outside Cuguen. Easy drive to the coast - Dinan or Mont St Michel. It's run by an English speaking couple from Jersey. Beautiful pool and roomy pitches

I’ve just been looking at that site grannyboat. It has good reviews.
Just hoping we get the green light to go in late August.
This will be just the first 6 nights of a 7 week trip.
Thanks for all your input.
would definitly recommend carnac espaecially the castels site near the rocks, forget the name at the moment, vannes auray concorneau trinte sur mer quiberon loads to visit especially shell collecting on the beaches
Brittany is my favourite part of France, full of character and culture, with the nicest people in the country. It doesn’t have the weather of the south, but it’s better for it.👍👍
