I have been tracking Eurotunnel prices for my trip to France and The Netherlands next May to June 2022, and noticed the price per dog has gone up from 20.00 GBP each way to 22.00 GBP each way when I checked in July 2021.

Not a huge increase as such, however, it is 10%!

It seems to be every other year that they do an increase, of course they have the new building at Ashford to pay for.

I wonder if they have a ceiling price, because surely that just can't keep increasing it every other year.

The ferry companies will follow suit of course.

Apparently, keeping a dog can cost you between £27,000 and £30,800 during it's lifetime...if you go abroad it could cost you £30,822

Dont begrudge them, dog facilities are excellent and staff have always been really good. Best way to cross with a dog by miles!

To be fair, it takes them a lot longer to check the 11 (UPWARDS) pages of the Animal Health Certificate.

Still be far the best way to travel with your pet.

For us that's £88 added to the cost of travel. In fact, although it is still cheaper to take them than leave them with a carer, we will probably go dog free next year. One of them really hates the car, so it would be less stressful all round and we will have a very different (if shorter) holiday!

Eurotunnel booking (for 2022) availability is out now up to and including August.

Did a dummy booking for our usual dates and even with the increase in cost for the dogs, it comes out at a £1 cheaper.

Now that works out to be a good bottle of wine.
