We are heading towards the South of France approx 20 Sept. Understand some campsites are starting to close. We do not need kids pools/play areas. Happy to spend time in good quality aires too. We have 3-4 weeks to tour the area. Within walking distance of nice restaurants. Enjoy gentle walking and cycling. 2 adults who enjoy visiting towns/villages to meander through. Any advice gratefully received.
Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!
Inland. Camping le Bregoux at Aubignan - open till end of October.and within walking range of village shops, bars, restaurants, or bus into Carpentras for market day. Or Camping les Romarins at Maussanne les Alpilles - central village location once again with bus service to visit Arles.
Coastal. Camping la Pinede in Cavalaire - of the 4 sites there this is the closest to town centre, harbour shops and seafront. Open till 15 October.
Camping les Cedres in Apt say they are open until end Oct. Few minutes walk to town centre, on old railway cycle route. Good Saturday market. Walking distance of supermarket. Don't know about restaurants as we don't eat out much, but they do have some.
The site in the town of Tournon sur Rhone, now seems to be called Camping le Rhone, say they are open until 14th Nov. That's right in the town centre. Edited to say it's listed on here as Camping de Tournon.
Both listed on here.
The site on the opposite side of the river at Tain L'Hermitage appears to be open until 15th Nov. That would fulfil your requirements too.
I also see that the site at Tournus is open until 31st Oct.
If you can get hold of an ACSI book, that lists a lot of sites open late in the season, but be aware that they might have closed some of their facilities like pools, snack bars etc.
Situated on the edge of town Loads of restaurants and lively centre.
Supermarkets very close and about 6 miles from Nyons, whose Thursday market is the largest we have ever seen - it takes over the whole town. Loads of interesting places Grignan, Rivecherches (for truffles) Visan and soon
Both sites on the island by the Avignon city walls are open
