Hi Looking for a nice site, with is easy reach of some Champagne tasting.

Any recomendations would be greatly appriciated.

But none in the city itself - Val de Vesle is good but eleven miles away. Otherwise you can use the municipal site at Epernay and do your wine tasting there instead of in Reims.

Or as a slight alternative, does anyone know of any wineries, where you can overnight, as long as you purchase something, to accommodate 2 x caravans and 1 x motorhome.

Decent municipal site in Epernay but unless things have changed, no twin axles or caravans over a certain length (6metres?). Plenty of major Champagne houses offering tasting tours in Epernay or drive out to the vineyards and do the tasting in properties of the smaller producers - be aware though that the Champagne is usually cheaper to buy in the supermarkets!!!

Reims is pretty industrial. Champagne making generally doesn't involve mom and pop wineries surrounded by vineyards. Even the small producers tend to have fragmented holdings.
Somewhere near Epernay is probably a better bet. I'll try to find the site wee stayed on and post a link.

Central Reims is lovely especially at this time of year. The best place we have found to taste different champagnes in a relaxed atmosphere is at the Reims Christmas market in the cathedral close (https://www.reims-tourisme.com/le-marche-de-noel) where different small and large houses have stalls where the locals let their hair down. We’ve been a few times and genuinely felt as if we were the only tourists there.

Otherwise in the cafes in Reims ask for “producteur” champagne and you will get a glass of one of the single vineyards that go into the blends of the famous houses. It’s a bit like single malt whisky in reverse. The expensive champagnes are always blends.

Can recommend staying at Residhome Reims Centre which has parking and is walking distance to the city centre. About €51 per night at this time of year. We usually go early December and it is magic with the Christmas lights and everything else 😀

Try Camping Val de Vesle, to the east of Reims.

Camping Au Bords de l'Aisne to the north of Reims.

Or possibly Camping Municipal at Fismes, just north west of Reims.

All about the same distance away.

Also Les Riceys for good champagne and other sparkling wine tasting (Rose de Riceys, for example) and the nearby campsite Lac de Grebes at Marcenay les Lac, mind you it is some time ago since we stayed there.

You don`t need to base yourself in the Reims/Epernay area, Champagne is a large region and some of the better wines are made in other parts of the region. If you go at the right time of year, when the cellars are not particularly busy with making the stuff, quite often you can get shown around and taste the produce. The area around Bar sur Aube has some great wines, Drappier is outstanding. If you are around Reims, Mailly champagne is my favourite ever - - a Grand Cru at less than you would pay for the blended stuff that Moet et Chandon sell. Enjoy yourself.

If staying at Val de Vesle, I can thoroughly recommend Brochet Olivier Champagne 88 Rue de Sillery, 51500 Taissy, France. We had a superb welcome and tastings here. It is only 6.5 miles. Bought quite a few cases as end of holiday bonus.

Again if staying at Val de Vesle I can highly recommend Philippe Benard champagne in the small village of Mareuil-Sur-Ay, it's about 16 miles from the campsite.

The village has a lovely bar that does really good meals and the Phillipe champagne is the house bottle and their shop is just round the corner.

We sat and sampled a few glasses with the great granddaughter of Phillipe.

Billecart-Salmon champagne house is also there, a stones throw from the Phillipe one.
