Hi
We are looking for a site in the Burgundy region for July this year.
We have a few preferences, a pool on site, on site restaurant/bar, within walking distance of a town/village with cafes, shops etc.
I would like to fish on site also but that isn't essential
Oh we are tent campers.

Try using the excellent search facility.

For Burgundy / Tents / Fishing I find 23 hits.

Then have a look at the reviews from members.

The map view will show if they are near a town or not.

With a pool you are down to 8.

Follow this link.

There's one at St. Boil which has a pool and pizzeria, but I don't think it is within walking distance of a settlement. It's very popular with Brits as a stop-over.

We have also stopped at the site at Cormatin, which is on the edge of the village, but, from memory, it doesn't have a pool, although it was very newly opened when we were there.

We regularly use Cormatin - - there is no pool there.

Camping Municipal in Macon does cover most of your requirements. Pool and restaurant on site. Not too far to river where I have seen fishing. And pleasant walk along river to town where there are lots of restaurants and shops. Lidl across the road, big Auchan just further down. Excellent sanitary blocks on site.

Savigny Les Beaune is a fab location to explore Burgundy. The site has has a name change from Le Premiers Pres to Premiers Vins.

Camping only ( not sure why as it has always been a mix with a specific caravan area).

Perfectly located for Beaune.
Not far from a supermarket - 2 miles.
Beautiful 'Village Fleurie' awarded village.
Campsite has a lovely vine side walk into the village.
Not commercial
Clean facilities

This is the site of choice if we are going to the French Alps or on route to Provence.

Burgundy is so much more than wine...the historic architectural sites are wonderful.i.e Vezelay, Citeau, Cluny.

We have stayed in Savigny about 12 times....unusual for us but its a true GEM

We often use Paquier Fane - Chagny

Very convenient for Beaune, on the canal cycle path and above all cheap

A vote here for Dompierre les Ormes.
We've stayed there about 3 times. They have some spectacular storms in the area and will give out a warning over the tannoy. We battened down the hatches the first year and had no problem. The second time we were in a Eurocamp tent (my youngest was 3 months old and I'd booked when pregnant and thought pitching might be a bit much for me -wrong). The gazebo was blown over but had been so well pegged down that it broke rather than blew away. We heard the rods in the tent opposite break followed by slamming doors as they got into their car and left. I still feel guilty that we didn't offer them space in our tent - we had 2 singles that the 4 of them could have fitted in - they hadn't returned by the time we left.

The restaurant is basic but the food was quite tasty.
There are 2 toilet blocks - the lower one is the nicer of the two IMO.

Portia, how considerate.
One time we were camping nr Saumur and the couple opposite knew we had a long journey ahead....
They invited us unto their caravan awning for a coffee and served us with a full breakfast.....there are some very kind people to be met when camping.

I would second that suggestion, we often stay at Chagny, there is no pool but there is a public pool around the corner. The added bonus for us is that there is a station in the town and you can get the train to Beaune, Dijon, and Chalon very easily and quickly for a touristy day out. The couple that run it are very helpful and friendly too.
