Thanks Oxter, really sad we've been forced out of that storage though. The caravan was just as we'd left it, no trace of mustiness or anything with the upholstery or towels etc we'd left in it - just amazing. Such helpful people too, but can't be helped. Enjoy your hols!
It's 300 euros a year - quite a shock after the 190 we've been paying in the Loire! However, thinking about it, it's around the same as we were paying 3 years ago for not very secure outside storage and at the end of the day we decided it was worth it to be able to keep the van over here, stored indoors and insured!
Forgot to say, he charges according to size, so that 300 euros is for our 6.5m x 2.3m van.
The storage is under an hour from Cherbourg, in a hangar in a field at the back of the owner's house, along a country lane - sound familiar??? It's just that this one has perimeter hedging, a locked, coded entry gate and isn't on a working farm, so the Towergate underwriters accepted it.
Glad you got sorted Bofs, even if it is a bit more expensive. It’s still a lot cheaper than any UK storage we have been able to find around our way! Enjoy the rest of your holiday.

Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!
Hi Kelper,
I've not actually seen the place in person, but from the recommendation and Google Earth picture I'd say yes (if it's any different in real life we'll be changing our minds again!).
As Mrs Oxter wants to take the caravan home, I declared the storage at home and started cover from the day we collected it. Caravan has been stored since before Covid struck so it was quite dusty outside and in, but superficial and was easily cleaned up.
The “duck shed” looked pretty full so if we bring the van home, we might not get our space back in future.
Still negotiating with Mrs O. 😀
Still a bit of cloud about the Loire but chilling out at the Promenade for a few more days.
Glad you're back enjoying France after your Covid enforced absence. We thought the storage was much fuller this time too. We had a few nights at the site at St. Florent le Vieil after picking up the van, and rinsed off the accumulated dust while we were there - but nothing compared to how dirty (and probably with a green roof!) it would have been after 30 months outside. Fingers crossed the new storage will be just as good. We're currently between Ploermel and Josselin in Brittany, wending our way VERY slowly back towards Cherbourg, quite enjoying the cooler weather before the sun's due back in a couple of days.
Hi Oxter,
We've been to meet the owner and check out the new storage today. There is still room in his indoor, secure storage if you are interested. It's different from Emmanuel's in that the main storage building is divided into smaller units each holding 4 vans, each of which has its own secured entrance, and the owner is the only one who brings out and puts away the vans.
If you are interested, let me know and I'll give you the details. The storage is within an hour's drive of Cherbourg, under 2 from Ouistreham.
The owner does not speak English and prefers to communicate by phone, by the way.
Hope you are enjoying being back in France.
