This is an interesting thread - we are sailing this week to St Malo and driving down to visit our caravan at Logis du Breuil, where we plan to clean it, empty it of personal effects and then (hopefully) sell it over the summer season. Like the OP, our summer family holidays were in France for many years so it made sense to store our van there. Now our needs have changed. There are often vans for sale on site so fingers crossed we are lucky. Good luck to the OP with bringing your caravan back - I hope your journey went well.

Ours is also in France and although it’s very old because it’s stored inside it’s not had a hard life. Interesting to see if anyone manages to sell one through this site.
For those worried about caravan servicing whilst stored in France, we have ours serviced by Caravan Help Abroad. Our caravan was done in April this year, when Kris visited us on the site where we store, and where we were holidaying at the time. He qualified in the UK and trained at NCC. Audited annually by the Approved Workshop Scheme (backed by the NCC, the Caravan and Motorhome Club and the Caravan and Camping Club). French registered and working legally in Europe.
