Just looking at Google maps and running through the route when I saw a heavy doted red line and no entry flag on the section of n28 after pont Mathilde, not again… Anyone else seen this? Or been through them yet?

Is the same deviation in place as was previously, up and over the hill? A couple of hairpin bends if I remember correctly?

Just wondering wether to skip Rouen and go via Paris

Edit: just found out for the current phase 260 nights (new escape tunnels and lighting) it’ll be closed Mon - Fri 20:00 to 06:00 so may not be as bad as before

Could you not leave the N28 just before the river and head down the other side of the river on the D6015?

Another alternative is to carry straight on at the end of the point Matilde (signposted Sotteville) onto the boulevard de Europe and just stay on that until it joins the N338. Only about 2 or 3 km not on urban motorway

And another alternative is to spend three or four days walking round the historic city - cathedral, museums, shops and that wonderful food market.: Everyone seems keen to leave it behind.

I think the OP was talking about northbound from the Pont Mathilde, where there doesn’t seem to be an obvious local alternative. I took a wrong turn there once, and found myself trying to get through the suburbs, not fun.

Other than Paris, there’s always the downstream detour via the Pont de Brotonne and up to the A150 at Yvetot. Adds a bit, but it’s an easy drive, albeit some of it on single carriageway.

Thanks all. I'll have a butchers at the suggested alternatives.

Having checked most days on google maps they do seem to be sticking to the 8pm to 6am schedule as far as can be interpolated from the "traffic" layer on google maps. Which seems to be green during the day and closed after 8pm so fingers crossed we'll travel as planned.

Not sure if any of the alternatives suggested were straight on along the river instead of turning right over Pont Mathilde, but that is closed as well.... or at least showing signs of being closed on Google maps.

Oh well should be fun lol
