The ferry arrives in Bilbao at 20.45. Does anyone have advice re nearby campsites, for overnight stay?

There are a couple of campsites near Bilbao (not sure what time they accept arrivals till). After that very little for a good while. We normally just overnight at services tbh. Never felt uncomfortable.

The municipal site, Fuentes Blancas, in Burgos is about 100 motorway miles away, I believe reception is open until midnight.

Camping Sopelana is close by ... are you planning to stay a couple of days, or, just overnight and travel on next morning?
Which direction? East? West? South?

I might be able to suggest better if I have an idea of what you intend.

As I said earlier, the ferries from Portsmouth arrive at Bilbao at 0800 in the morning and most people will move straight on from there

But if the questioner really does want a campsite that day then there are some local ones which will accept them mid morning.

Is that still required?

I think the 20.45 quoted time is the return to UK time ... they do quote the two trips an odd way round!
