Never been camping there before… so any recommendations? Looking for views and peace and quiet if possible? We live in France so would be approaching from the west north of Switzerland.
Don’t know the geography of Germany at all…
Thanks
Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!
Koblenz on the confluence of the Mosel and Rhine (Rheine), Knaus Campingpark Koblenz Rhein/Mosel right by the river. Beautiful historic town and you can take ferry trips along the rivers.
Campingpark Sanssouci at the Templiner See near Potsdam, great for the royal palace of Sanssouci at Potsdam and also the S-Bhan for Berlin, worth a 4 day stopover but Berlin is a mighty long way east.
Sorry, just seen that you'll be coming up from the south, if you can find somewhere to stay near Munich it's worth a stop just to gawp at the clock on Marianplatz as the clock chimes on the hour.
Can heartily recommend Landal Warsberg in the town of Saarburg in the Mosel area, close to where France / Germany / Luxembourg meet. Good for Trier / Bernkastel-Kues / Koblenz / Luxembourg, koln and Frankfurt also reachable. Site on the top of vineyard hills, there is a cable car down into town (and up again !), lots of great forest walking from the site, a birds of prey park also within walking distance, great views across the valley.
100% agree with Saarburg and Koblenz. For Saarburg, though, I have always used one of the two other sites, Camping Waldfrieden or Camping Leukbachtal which has an easy level path into town and has a large Aldi nearby.
In this area you can buy a railway pass that covers unlimited day travel for up to 5 people. It covers as far as Saarbrucken in one direction , Trier and the Mosel down to Koblenz and even as far as Mainz.
Also a bus service to Luxembourg city.
------------- Two drifters off to see the world.
I'm tired of reality, so I'm off to look for a good fantasy.
