Just to drift off the subject slightly, I have a le Cube gas container which I use for my holidays in France. On my way back to St Malo early May, I replaced it for a full one at the last garage before St Malo so I would have a full one ready for my next holiday. Cost me 18 euros. I bought the same amount of calor gas here for use on UK holidays and it cost me 34 quid for a replacement. That's a bit more than a slight difference!

We're here at the moment and have found diesel prices have increased as we've gone further south.
I think that's as much because prices have been increasing almost daily as it is geographical location.
Here in the Dordogne I was paying about 1.80 euro for diesel a fortnight ago - it's 1.99 at our local Carrefour today. And that's despite an 18 cent per litre government subsidy.
We're getting the ferry to Bilbao, spending a couple of weeks in the Basque region before driving up to Caen. Anyone got any info on Spanish diesel prices?
Oh, and I second cards such as Revolut, Starling etc, they're brilliant abroad (and in the UK) :)
Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!
Got a tankful of E10 yesterday at a new Leclerc place near Mesnil Saint-Pere on the south of the lac d’Orient for about €2.19 per litre.
Unbelievably we got the same on the motorway (needed a splash and dash) near to Aix en Provence this afternoon for €2.00 per litre. Never ever before has the motorway been cheaper than the supermarket.
Just an update, having returned again yesterday. It is significantly cheaper to buy your diesel in France, rather than the UK, at the moment. At Leclerc in Neufchatel on Saturday it was 1.97 euro, I filled up on Sunday morning and paid 2.01, but passed several filling stations on the way back to Calais (off autoroute) charging 1.99. Those figures relate to around £1.70 a litre, a big saving on UK prices if you are filling up.
The highest price we saw on our travels during the last couple of weeks was 2.40 in Lisieux. On average mostly prices were tipped over the 2€ mark on the pumps we used but we didn't actively search out supermarkets. The last one was a Carrefour at 2.09 in Normandy on way to the Dieppe ferry.
€1.97 at a Shell station in Tournus, cheaper than Intermarche.
Even saw it at €1.98 on the motorway.
These are diesel prices.
------------- XVI yes?
