This year we're off to Luxembourg, Germany and finishing off in France.
But pre-planning for next year, and was seeing if anyone had experiences or recommendations for Lake Como & Lake.
Is it feasable to have a week in each.

We went to Lake Garda a year or 2 back. Drove down through France to Grenoble then crossed through the Frejus Tunnel.
We stayed at Camping Serenella between Garda and Bardolino, it's in the ACSI book and reviewed on here. We chose there because we had been to Lake Garda on regular holidays and fancied that campsite, which is right on the Lake. It's also central for using the ferries to other parts.

Just a point to remember when visiting Lake Garda. its best to avoid the German school holidays as it gets packed as our German chums have a far shorter distance to travel and its popular destination for them.

what kind of campsite are you looking for?
when i camped alongside lake como, with my motorbike, we looked for campsites all along the east side of the lake.
the only campsite we found that wasnt rammed was in sorico called camping Au lac de como. the tent pitches were right next to the lake, except for a fence and a footpath. we turned away from quite a few other campsites. it had a swimming pool also and a restaurant and shop. it wasnt to the standards of french campsites but i didnt ever stop in an italian campsite that was.

not sure if there are any better campsites on como.
dont forget to visit lake Iseo and maggiore.
i stayed at a hotel in Cannenaro Riviera but we actualy ate and drank in the local campsite bar during that trip. the campsite was quite nice as i remember.

i have only visited iseo while working in Brescia but i did scope out the campsites on an evening drive around the lake.
some are lake side with each campsites own access on the shore.
they do like to pack them in though.
i have not yet had the pleasure of garda but there are some big campsites more like those in france i believe.

Hi, What time of year, for how long, which ferry route etc are all things that will help others to make suggestions!
We have done the reverse, Garda then Como, and they are both beautiful, but a long way to go for just a week at each unless that’s all the time you have.
We use Bella Italia at Peschiera Del Garda and we head there from our current site, by Lago Trasimeno, next week.
The site is our favourite and it’s position is superb with a level lakeside walk into town, a large supermarket on site that’s very impressive, fab restaurants and facilities all topped by the stunning views of the lake with mountains as a backdrop.
Pitches are reasonable but not large, the reason we had a mover fitted, and the pools can be very busy but we love it!
The site we used at Como was Camping Rannochio in Piano Porlezza-a totally differetyoe of site but again one we loved and would return to.

Some great camp sites in Limone (north Lake Garda) .... infinitely preferable to the very crowded and touristy southern end!

Our experience in that area was of cramped campsites and roads near lakes and mountains that were quite difficult to negotiate with a long outfit. Lots of small tunnels and traffic lights not always adhered to by local drivers. Poor road surfaces too. We met a motor homer who said,' Never again'.
However, don't let that put you off, but allow plenty of time for journeys that look short on a map.
We would return, but be checking Google Earth very carefully prior to choosing sites.
