We were recently on a pitch in County Kerry, Ireland, in between 2 other units. One was a teenage couple (Dublin reg), dressed very inner city, tracksuits, leggings, etc) the other was an elderly couple (UK reg), well turned out at all times.
One couple were loud in general, banging the doors of their campervan (once about 30 times between 11pm and half 12), talking very loudly till well after midnight, generally oblivious to other people nearby.
The other couple you would hardly know they were there, kept themselves to themselves but always pleasant. The day they packed up and left we didnt hear a thing.
Now ..... which couple do you think matches with which ?

My money's also on the young couple being more considerate, mostly because I just don't think you can stereotype people.
That said, we've just left a site near Argelès (in south-west France), where, towards the end of our stay, we were awoken at around midnight by a van arriving on the pitch behind ours. The newcomers made absolutely no attempt to keep the noise down and were slamming about and talking loudly for a good half hour. To add insult to injury, they then cut through a gap in the hedge and walked across our pitch, taking a short-cut to the sanitaires (despite that the path was just one pitch away from theirs).
In this instance, they were a young couple, totally ignorant of camping etiquette and clearly with little respect for others.
Over the years, we've found most campers to be amiable and considerate, but there's always going to be an ignoramus now and again, that's life.
In our case, I blame the site for letting people on at such a late hour without restricting them to the area around reception. Then again, anyone who walks over occupied pitches is a bit arrogant, whatever their age and however they present themselves.

OK, walking right through the centre where you have all your things spread out would be a bit different, but just skirting the edge or cutting across a corner doesn't seem the worst thing in the world. My attitude is, if you havent paid part of the pitch fee then you're only welcome on the pitch by invitation. Cutting a few feet off the corner is one thing, walking right beside the car, bikes, van, etc is another - and the time I described above was another.
