I hope no one from UKCS has been affected by the wild fires currently raging around the Landes area, and near the Dune du Pyla near Arcachon.

For those about to set off for that area, check with your campsite that all is well before your journey.

We are about 50 miles up the coast at Montalivet. Ok here. They have stopped the firework displays unless they can be on the beach & directed out to sea.

If anyone is heading that way just heard that access to the Dune, the reception area, the road to Biscarrosse and the 5 campsites at Pyla du Mer are all closed until Monday at least https://ladunedupilat.com/en/acces-a-la-dune-et-lespace-daccueil-ferme-et-interdit-jusqua-nouvel-ordre/

I would steer well clear of the Area full stop.Over 7000 hectares have burnt so far and the weather is against the pomps.

This has now been updated from 'Monday' to 'until further notice'.
