Looking at the Irish website it states due to covid there maybe a 2 year wait for your paperwork to be processes!
That's just for foreign birth registrations outside Ireland and GB and also for applications under the "grandparents rule", otherwise the current waiting times are all 8 weeks, including GB passport express.

Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!

I was not born on the island of Ireland. My parents were Irish citizens when I was born, they were born on the island of Ireland.

Or

I was not born on the island of Ireland. My parent was born on the island of Ireland and I am now resident in Ireland.
From https://www.citizensinformation.ie/en/moving_country/irish_citizenship/irish_citiz........ there is a handy table for all qualifications: basically born on the island of Ireland or a child of someone born on the island of Ireland and you're good to go. For grandchildren or greatgrandchildren of someone born on the island of Ireland it gets a bit more complicated and lengthy.

As I understand it changing the rules like that would require the approval of all of the EU countries in the Schengen Zone? So if they agree for one country it surely makes it difficult because there would be no excuse for not extending it to all countries in the Schengen scheme?

David

Spain can introduce whatever sort of Visa arrangement they choose, outside of EU approval. We can all apply for a Visa to visit anywhere in the world. EU countries still offer their own Visa requirements.

Val

The point I was making is that they can't change the Schengen rules. They could of course issue a longer term Visa but don't these tend to be quite expensive?

David
